The Department of English Language and Literature
Faculty of Letters,
“Babes-Bolyai” University, Cluj-Napoca (Romania)

announces the 6th edition of its biennial conference on

Constructions of Identity
(Cluj-Napoca, 28-30 October 2010)

The general topic of this year’s edition is:

Identity and Globalization

The conference will host keynote speeches, round tables and workshops. The keynote speakers and the topic of
their lecture will be published in the final version of the conference programme. The round tables are thought of
as scholarly debates on professional topics, The round table topics and their convenors are to be announced
before 30 April 2010. The workshops are organised in the following sections:
 American Literature
 British and Commonwealth Literature
 Cultural Studies
 English Language Teaching
 Gender Studies
 Language Studies
 Literary Theory
 Poetics and Semiotics
 Translation Studies
The speakers in the round table discussions are invited to address the convenors directly. The participants in the
workshops are expected to give a 15-minute general presentation of their papers, which will be followed by
discussions between speakers and audience. Those wishing to participate in such workshops are invited to
register online before 1 September 2010 by accessing the Speaker Proposal Form found at the conference web
address.
As usual, the proceedings of this conference will be published in a volume.
The general conference fee is 200 lei, to be paid upon arrival.
